What people are saying:
This place is pretty cool. They have stuffed animals all over the walls that sing and move to the music which is alot of fun for all ages. It has a lodge decor which makes the dining more relaxed and casual. The staff has always been great and their steak is delicious.
Our kids absolutely love this place. The animals all over the restaurant (some of which talk) keep them distracted until we can be seated and our food arrives. It's noisy enough in the restaurant that no one minds a few excited children. The food and service are decent.
There is often a wait at dinner, but they promise to cut your wait in half if you call ahead.
PROS: Fun atmosphere for kids
CONS: Price, wait
The Olive Garden
The Olive Garden says, "When you're here, you're family." and they mean it. The atmosphere is relaxed the staff is always ready with a highchair or some extra napkins and no one, staff or patrons alike, are going to bat an eye if a little one gets tearful from time to time. After all that is how families are.

THE BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT AROUND. THEY DEAL MOSTLY IN ITALIAN FOOD BUT FOR THOSE WHOSE DONT LIKE OR CARE FOR ITALIAN THEY HAVE OTHER KINDS OF FOOD. LIKE STEAK, CHICKEN AND ETC. THE PRICES ARE RIGHT FOR THE FOOD YOU GET, YOU GET SALAD OR SOUP PLUS BREAD STICKS WITH YOUR FOOD. THE PEOPLE ARE SO NICE AND THE ATMOSPHERE IS PERFECT.

But ones that are more recent are less than glowing;
I absolutely used to love the Olive Garden and would have given 5 stars a year ago, but based on service and cleanliness and wait time when asking for a reservation ad not receving one only to be asked when we get there if we had a reservation is ridiculous. The recently they have changed bread distributors so their breadsticks are now rubbery and unappetizing. The portions for lunch meals are ncredibly small. I recommend Bazil.
If you do complain to them though, they may give you credit back, since this happened when we received dirty plates and bad service we called and complained and they issued a $25 gift card.
Charlie Brown’s Family Restaurant
495 Goodman Street, Rochester, NY 14609 585-325-3606
Charlie Brown's Family Restaurant is where the locals go here for good food day or night and breakfast anytime. It is not far from the Downtown Convention Center, prices are reasonable, food is exceptionable. They do not have a web site, but with the reviews their customers post it just is not a priority.
What People are Saying:
A while back I was in Rochester and was looking for a delicious and affordable breakfast. I came across Charlie Brown's and I instantly fell in love with it. Since that day, every diner I walk into, in my mind, I compare them to Charlie Brown's. To date, no restaurant has come close to the food, service and affordability for my family.
It is not always good, nobody’s perfect.
All three orders were cold, dry and tasteless. Waitress was inefficient, unfriendly and and actually rude. We sent back two items, didn't finish the other and ordered take out from another restaurant on the way home. Used to LOVE this place years ago. What happened?
But then he went back.
Okay - I tried Charlie Brown's again this Friday. The meal was unbelievable! I couldn't decide between the pork chop with a chipolte sauce and the flank steak with a demi-glaze. Billy, one of the owners, solved the problem for me - he suggested I order one pork chop and an order of flank steak! I followed his suggestion and was presented with a plate of medium rare flank steak drizzled with a demi-glaze and a thick succulent pork chop covered with a wonderful chipolte sauce. In addition to these wonderful meats I was treated to a thick slice of polenta and crisp, fresh green beans with pieces of crisp, thick bacon. I couldn't believe that this particular dinner was served at such a non-assuming restaurant. It was fabulous! Although I could not finish everything I was served, my fellow dinner companions decided to indulge with a piece of homemade carrot cake (to die for) and the best chocolate cream pie I have ever tasted. Notice I said "tasted." The richness, smoothness and all around taste left me speechless. What a wonderful meal! To not give Charlie Brown's a try would be to cheat yourself out of a delightful dining experience. Tell Billy Sugartree sent you - that and a quarter should get you a phone call! Really though, give it a try - you won't be disappointed!
Charlie Brown's has become our Friday night dinner spot along with our Sunday morning breakfast establishment. Having heard about the great omelette's and such, I ventured down into the "shady part of town" and was delightfully surprised at the embracing of each diner as "friends." Bobby and Billy (the new owners) do everything they can to make their patrons feel welcome and comfortable. As far as the pricing of the menu items, they are more than fair. The breakfast stuffed potato skins are to die for and the weekly special breakfast menus are original and daring. Where else would you find a lox and cream cheese stuffed omelette or turtle pancakes but at Charlie Brown's? As far as their dinners are concerned (Friday nights only), the fish fry (any breading you choose) is a bargain. When they offer macaroni and cheese, be sure to substitute this for the potatoes. We have brought many of our friends to "the hood" and they too have returned with new patrons. The customers have become like a family to us and Bobby and Billy remember our specific likes and dislikes perfectly. The servers are likable, efficient and fun but don't get on the wrong side of them! Remember, the secretaries run the offices and the servers... Oh, when you do go to Charlie Brown's, be sure to mention you read this review. No, it won't get you anything off the bill but it should bring a smile to Billy's face!
