Visit Denver Museum of Nature and Science
Located at 2001 Colorado Blvd, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science is one if the best and largest natural history museums in the United States. The museum has exhibits in anthropology, geology, health science, paleontology, space science and zoology, plus a IMAX theater and the Gates Planetarium.
Visit the Denver Art Museum
Located right at the south end of the Civics Center in Denver is the Denver Art Museum. The Denver Art Museum houses over 68,000 art objects from around the world.
Visit the Denver Botanic Gardens
Located at 1005 York Street, between 11th and 9th Avenues, is the beautiful Denver Botanic Gardens. There are more than 45 formal gardens in the Denver Botanic Gardens, as well as the Boettcher Memorial Tropical Conservatory.
Visit the Downtown Aquarium
The Downtown Aquarium, located at 700 Water Street in Qwest Park in Denver, Colorado, houses a large collection of sharks, stingrays and other marine life that visitors can snorkel and scuba dive in for a price. The Downtown Aquarium also holds over 500 species of animals and birds living in re-created natural conditions indoors.
Visit the Colorado State Capitol Building
Located between East 14th and Colfax Avenues is the Colorado State Capitol building. Completed in 1908, the Colorado State Capitol is an impressive neoclassical style structure made from Colorado white granite, and topped with a large gold-leafed dome. Guided tours of the marble floored building are available daily Monday thru Friday.
Visit the Denver Mint
As any coin collector worth their salt knows, coins produced at the Denver Mint bear the D mark on them. The Denver Mint is located at 320 West Colfax Ave. For guided tours of the huge building go to the entrance on Cherokee Street.
Visit the Denver Zoo
Located at 2300 Steele Street in City Park is the Denver Zoo. The Denver Zoo contains over 3,500 animals representing over 650 different species from around the world. You can see Komodo dragons at the Denver Zoo, which are pretty cool to see.
Visit Rocky Mountain National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park is located about 70 miles northwest of Denver, and is well worth a visit by anyone staying in the Denver area.
